Anna RIWKIN-BRICK is already well-known to the Israeli from a previous exhibition in the Dizengoff House in 1954, and from her books about Palestine and Israel.
Born in Russia. In 1914, while still a child, moves with her family to Sweden.
Anna Riwkin-Brick or Riwkin, born June 10 1908 in Gomel oblast of Belarus , died 18 December 1970 in Israel , .
She has primarily been remembered for their photo books about children
in different countries, but also scattered portraits of several Swedish
cultural figures.
The Jewish family Riwkin, among others, Anna and her brother Joseph came to Sweden in 1914. Having started as a dance and theater photographer started Anna Riwkin-Brick a studio in Stockholm in 1928.
However, it is mainly photo books that remain. Among other things, she followed Elise Ottensen Jensen's enlightenment tours. Anna Riwkin-Bricks photographs was also widely acclaimed in Zigenarväg, originally a series of stories she did together with Ivar Lo-Johansson, as well as two photo books about the state of Israel's emergence, Palestine in 1948 and Israel in 1955, with lyrics by her husband, Daniel Brick.
His very long collaboration with Astrid Lindgren, in a series of stories for children, published all over the world and receives in 1958 Award for the best children's book and in 1963, the Elsa-Beskow Prize (Sweden).
The portraits of the two Swedish stamps of Nobel Laureates Nelly Sachs and Wislawa Szyborska are taken by Anna Riwkin-Brick. Around the year 1977/78, she became the subject of an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art along with Karl Sandels and Curt Gotlin.
